A Family Ministry Program for Home Life During Covid-19
When Covid-19 hit, we piloted a 6-week family ministry program call "Creating Sabbath Space" to help families stay connected to their faith and church community when meeting in person as a congregation wasn't possible. Now that it's clear in-person church will not happen for many for a long time, we're continuing and adapting this program into a monthly rather than weekly series, and now calling it "Chalice Home."
Each monthly Chalice Home packet will be designed to be sent to your families and will include a family worship and family activity that is built around adding a new item/symbolic object to your family's home "altar" or as we refer to it, "Chalice Home." These activities and objects will connect to our monthly themes and lift up a different source of spiritual nourishment.
Additionally, we will share a companion RE leader Chalice home packet that will share ideas, resources and scripts to help you weave your families' Chalice Home activities into your RE online communal programming, turning Chalice home into a hybrid at-home and church community experience. For instance, the companion packet will help you build one of your monthly family chapel services around the some of the Chalice Home activities, allowing families to see each others Chalice Homes and reflect together on the items they add to it monthly.
