RE Resources
Our children's RE packets include 2 packets for upper elementary kids and 1 packets for lower elementary kids. Here are more details:
- Each monthly RE packet covers 4-5 weekly sessions and contains over 30 pages of stories, experience-based learning activities, song ideas, mindfulness practices, body practices , games, crafts, skits, videos, and more.
- Knowing that RE programs differ greatly, we use a "building block" curriculum approach, rather than what might be called a “recipe approach.” So, instead of offering rigid step-by-step lesson plans, we provide numerous and flexible components (i.e. building blocks) that enable you to alter session order and pick from a variety of activity options within each session.
- We have a Widening the Circle RE Research Team that works alongside our Director of RE Resources, April Rosario, to ensure that our packets include ARAOMC ("Anti-Racist, Anti-Oppression,Multi-Cultural") and DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) resources and lenses throughout our sessions.
- Our packets are for congregations of all sizes, but we make an extra effort to include and adapt activities for churches with smaller RE programs. For instance, we explicitly list how many kids each activity works best with and we include activities for RE programs with only 3-5 kids in attendance in every packet.
- Packets are "plug-and-play ready." Professional RE leaders are stretched and volunteer RE teachers have busy lives which don’t allow a lot of time to prepare for Sunday morning. So we make our RE packets ready-to-go, cleanly-designed and easily referenced within the group time with kids.
