We are thrilled to offer a brand new small group curriculum built around spiritual practice. We're calling it Practice Matters.
The Vision There is a growing interest in spiritual practice, both inside and outside our faith tradition. Practice Matters is designed to support this curiosity, in terms of both learning and doing! In other words, Practice Matters doesn't just explain the various featured spiritual practices, it helps people experience them. Relatedly, we hope that by giving participants an experience of these spiritual practices, they will be motivated to weave one or two of them into their daily or weekly routines! What You Get The subscription comes with 9 packets that follow our 2024-25 monthly themes and feature a spiritual practice related to each month's theme. Each packet provides background about that month's spiritual practice and includes guidance about a variety of ways participants can do the practice on their own prior to their group meeting. Then, at the group meeting, participants debrief their experience using the reflection questions from the packet and explore together the impact and insights that arose from trying out the practice. Subscriptions also include a facilitator's guide that provides facilitators with suggested chalice lightings, check-in questions, and discussion questions, as well as step by step guidance about how to lead participants through an in-group spiritual practice. The in-group practices are usually mindfulness related and are designed not only to expose participants to additional practices, but also to help the group bond through shared experience. The Spiritual Practices Covered What kinds of spiritual practices will the group explore? Well, they run the gamut, from breathing practices and walking a labyrinth to fasting, observing the Sabbath and Lectio Divina. You can get a complete overview HERE.
